COMMUNITY UPDATE - MARCH 2019

Despite having experienced what is hopefully the last of the winter snow this weekend I am sure everyone is enjoying the lighter nights and the sight of the spring bulbs coming up.

Recent updates for you as follows:

New Community logo

See below for our new logo which will be used on the Conservation Area sign and new Community Council noticeboard to be installed at the top of Victoria Road. The sign and noticeboard is currently being made by North Lanarkshire Council and we look forward to this being installed.

Facebook page

We have a new Facebook page which will be used for more regular updates from the Community Council and share any other relevant local news. Please follow it at - https://www.facebook.com/Dullatur-Community-Council-2024237447692213/?ref=page_internal. We will continue to provide blogs on a monthly basis to the list of subscribers on the website and leaflets at least twice a year. Please feel free to provide us feedback on the content of our communications at info@dullatur.org so we can continue to ensure it meets your needs.

Land at Dullatur Road

We have written to Ogilvie Homes, the owners of the strip of land on the east side of Dullatur Road between Kings and Queens Drive. We were aware that they have written to Westerwood residents to advise that the trees and shrubs that were planted on the site are to be removed. We have asked to meet a representative of Ogilvie Homes to ask how they will ensure that the visual appeal of this important green space is maintained for local residents.

Dullatur Lawn Tennis Club

The tennis season is almost open us. The beech hedge adjoining the courts has been trimmed and the courts have had a clean and moss treatment to ensure the courts are properly maintained and ready for the upcoming season. The club's coaching programme will run again from mid-April and the club is open to both junior and adult members - please see their leaflet 2019 leaflet https://www.dullatur.org/2019-leaflet. It would be great to expand the membership after a successful 2018 season.

Modified Local Development Plan

North Lanarkshire Council have published a modified local plan which is open for consultation until 5 April. Please see link here for further details.

Pavement Car Parking

A number of residents have complained about inconsiderate car parking across pavements. We would like to draw residents attention to the following link on North Lanarkshire Council's website: https://www.northlanarkshire.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=3835

Short Term Holiday Rentals

Further to previous updates on this matter we have been advised that North Lanarkshire Council planning department propose to write to owners of short term holiday lets to advise planning permission should be sought for a change of use for use of a property as a short term holiday rental. Residents will be able to object to the grant of such permission and should it be granted the Council may attach conditions to that permission (which can then be enforced). We believe this is a positive step that may help to address the recent complaints from neighbours who have experienced disturbance from such properties.
